Great Indian cards

Great Indian cards from the private swap with Cathy

Most all Native American Indian Peoples attach special significance to the Eagle and its feathers.
Eagle feathers were awarded to Indian Braves, warriors and Chieftains for extreme acts of valor and bravery. These feathers were difficult to come by, and were earned one at a time..

Both Bald and Golden Eagles (and their feathers) are highly revered and considered sacred within American Indian traditions, culture and religion
U.S. laws are very strict regarding the possession of eagle feathers. It is illegal to possess eagle feathers in any form unless you are an authorized American Indian. Possession of eagle feathers may lead to steep fines and prison.
The Buffalo nickel or Indian Head nickel was a copper-nickel five-cent piece struck by the United States Mint from 1913 to 1938. It was designed by sculptor James Earle Fraser.
Models for this coin were Indians: Iron Tail, a Sioux, Big Tree, a Kiowa, and Two Moons, a Cheyenne, and Two Gun White Calf.
Sitting Bull  was a  Lakota Sioux holy man who led his people as a war chief during years of resistance to United States government policies. He was killed by Indian agency police on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation during an attempt to arrest him in 1890

La Ville de Quebec

Quebec.  St. Lawrence River, Le Château Frontenac.
The Château Frontenac is a grand hotel in Quebec City. Prior to the building of the hotel, the site was occupied by the Chateau Haldimand, residence of the British colonial governors of Lower Canada and Quebec.
The Château Frontenac, designed by the American architect Bruce Price, was one of a series of "château" style hotels built for the Canadian Pacific Railway company during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The hotel began operation during 1893
The Château Frontenac was named in honor of Louis de Buade, Count of Frontenac, who was governor of the colony of New France from 1672 . The Château was built near the historic Citadelle, the construction of which Frontenac had begun at the end of the 17th century. The Quebec Conference of 1943, at which Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt discussed strategy for World War II, was performed at the Citadelle while much of the staff stayed nearby in the Château Frontenac.

Merci beaucoup, Isabelle!

Hanseatic City of Lübeck

Lübeck cards from wonderful swap with Mehthild.
Lübeck – the former capital  of the Hanseatic League – was founded in the 12th century and prospered until the 16th century as the major trading center for northern Europe. It has remained a center for maritime commerce to this day, particularly with the Nordic countries.
Despite the damage it suffered during the Second World War, the basic structure of the old city, consisting mainly of 15th- and 16th-century patrician residences, public monuments (the famous Holstentor brick gate), churches and salt storehouses, remains unaltered.
In 1987    Lübeck was included in UNESCO World Heitage list
